Launching GradingHunt
Welcome to GradingHunt, a new tool designed to help Pokémon TCG enthusiasts like you make smarter decisions about which cards are worth grading. This project began as a personal quest to find cards that offered the best Return on Grading (RoG) cards that were not only valuable but also worth the time and money to grade.
The Inspiration Behind GradingHunt
As a hobbyist Pokémon card collector and grader, I often found myself jumping between multiple selling platforms and price tracker sites, manually calculating the potential RoG for each card. It was time-consuming and tedious. To streamline the process, I built a small program to automate these calculations. The tool was so helpful that I thought, Why not turn this into an app for others to use? I knew there were other collectors out there asking the same question: Which cards are the best to grade?
The Goal of GradingHunt
GradingHunt is more than just a tool—it’s a passion project. My goal is to make grading Pokémon cards more accessible and less overwhelming for collectors. Whether you’re a seasoned grader or just starting out, GradingHunt is here to help you identify the cards that offer the best value and potential return.
For me, grading isn’t just about the financial aspect; it’s about preserving a piece of art and nostalgia. There’s something special about encapsulating a card’s beauty and history in a protective case, and I hope GradingHunt helps you experience that joy too.
How to Use GradingHunt
GradingHunt is designed to be simple and intuitive. Here’s how you can make the most of it:
- Search by Card Name: If you already have a specific card in mind, simply search for it by name to see its grading potential.
- Explore by Set: Dive into specific sets (e.g., XY, Sun & Moon, Sword & Shield, Scarlet & Violet) to compare the best cards within each era.
- Compare Across Eras: Not sure where to start? GradingHunt allows you to compare the top-grading cards across different eras, helping you make informed decisions.
Which Sets Are Included?
Currently, GradingHunt focuses on English, modern Pokémon cards from the following eras:
- XY
- Sun & Moon
- Sword & Shield
- Scarlet & Violet
I chose to focus on modern cards because they are easier to track and more readily available in gem mint (grade 10) condition. Vintage cards, while valuable, are often harder to find in pristine condition, making them less practical for grading in today’s market. Modern cards, on the other hand, are abundant and offer plenty of opportunities for collectors to find high-quality, grade-worthy cards.
What’s Next for GradingHunt?
This is just the beginning. I’m excited to see how GradingHunt evolves and how it can better serve the Pokémon TCG community. Your feedback and support will play a huge role in shaping the future of this tool. If you have any suggestions or ideas, feel free to reach out!
Thank you for joining me on this journey. Let’s make grading Pokémon cards easier, smarter, and more fun for everyone.
